Founded in the 14th century by the Republic of Florence, Firenzuola played an important role in defending Tuscany’s northern borders. The village witnessed fierce battles during World War II as it lay along the Gothic Line, one of the war’s most brutal fronts. Today, the town preserves historical landmarks such as the medieval walls and the Museo della Pietra Serena, where visitors can learn about the centuries-old tradition of stone extraction and craftsmanship. Firenzuola also hosts cultural events and festivals, such as the Chestnut Festival, which celebrates local flavors and the community’s deep connection to the land.
